LSU missed a difference-making fifteen free throws Wednesday night in a 76-69 loss at home to Alabama. Freshman phenom Ben Simmons had 20 points and 10 rebounds---but his night could have been much better and the result possibly flipped if he had not missed nine of his 19 shots from the charity stripe. Craig Victor led the Tigers with 21 points and Keith Hornsby added 18.

The Crimson Tide's Retin Obashohan led all scorers with 35 points as the result of an 11-for-18 night from the floor and 11-of-11 effort from the free throw line. Avery Johnson's Tide also had a sizable advantage in bench scoring with Alabama's reserves outscoring LSU's 25-2. LSU once again received a solid game shooting from their top three scorers, with Victor, Simmons and Hornsby hitting 18-of-35 shots. The rest of Johnny Jones' team hit just 4-of-22 shots with Tim Quarterman the biggest culprit--the mercurial guard made just 2-of-10 shots last night.
LSU falls out of a first place tie with Kentucky---but could find themselves knotted with the Wildcats after tonight's Kentucky-Tennessee game if the Vols can find a way to upset the 14th ranked Cats in Lexington.
