Good or Bad for LSU to Have a True-Freshman in the Mix? Monday's Saints Take

Player of the Day: Andrew Stevenson (LSU Baseball)

We couldn't be happier for Brandon Harris being a true-freshman being in the mix, but we have to wonder: is having a true-freshman in the mix a good thing or a bad thing for LSU?

EH: If your'e going to start, you might as well start fresh. All teams go through this maturation stage. I think it's a good thing that he's even in the conversation.
Fletch: And you bring up the WR position and that's a hot hot topic in Baton Rouge. Landry, Beckham, you now have a lot of people open for the position that you don't know a lot about. I think Quinn will have to earn his time, but I think it's Neville's John Diarses' time to shine.

Who will be #18?
Fletch: Jermauria Rosco might have a shot at it.
EH: Yeah imagine having a big guy in a little jersey.
Fletch: Speaking of big guys...Tre'Davious White has probably gained 15 pounds of muscle so far.
EH: Been hitting the buffet, huh?

Mind Blowing Moment of the Day:

What is the percentage and what is the cap number of Drew Brees?
EH: $20M and the cap is $133M, but then again there's other things involved like the bonus. So he's 31%?
Fletch: Holy cow, your math is atrocious. His cap number is $26.4M and takes up 19% of the whole cap. 1/5 of the Saints entire salary cap is taken up by Drew Brees.

Fletch: It appears the Saints have been logical, cold-hearted but logical.
Scandar: Sensible mentality has no place in the NFL, that's how you sink your ship. That's the Cowboys problem. It's better to get rid of someone a year early than a year late. I'm so glad, you know, the way the Saints have fixed their problems by putting dead money in the future over the past few years and I'm so glad they didn't do that this year.
Fletch: Saints fans are saying Brees needs to restructure his deal, are you guys for or against Drew giving up some of the $26.8M cap hit this year that will open the window this year but hurt later on?
Scandar: Even if we're not active in the free agent market, we're picking up Victor Butler who got hurt lat year and never played a down. We're getting Joe Morgan back. Every team with an elite quarterback, they have to pay them that much.

Fletch: Cam Newton has lost his biggest weapon with Steve Smith and Cam is going to want big money. The Falcons are still a train wreck. Tampa Bay? All they have are new uniforms that are gosh awful and a QB situation that is going to be horrible. So, the Saints probably look at this like, we don't have to make that many improvements, but if we just tweak and add new youthful guys in, we'll be favored to win the division.
EH: Yeah, I'll be interested to see the outcome of the Panthers with them having the saltiest defense. They played WAY above their level last year to get where they were.
Fletch: I think the Panthers are going to make some stupid mistakes during this free agency.

JR: It's not always as important who you lose as who you replace them with is. That's the big question. Right now it looks like they're just losing key components, but if you reload the right way, then people will forget that this happened come March when they determine whether these were smart moves or not. Like the Patriots, used to be like the Steelers for the most part, when they let key players go they always got a good player coming in on the return. I think that'll be the determining factor.
Fletch: RB's and WR's looking for a big paycheck are going to find their sources scarce.

Today is the day that Schutt vision arrives in Baton Rouge:
Fletch: When you drop off the Schutt vision at LSU will they start using it today?
JR: When we got the helmet on Friday morning, I called Stringfellow and told him we got it in. He called me back and said they pushed spring practice back until tomorrow which would've been Saturday. I asked him if Monday was okay and he said yes and that he wants it in time for 3 o'clock practice today. Fingers crossed that Brandon Harris will be wearing that helmet at some point today.

Fletch: Does LSU have any chance in H-E-L-L to win? LSU has to win their season opener: Bama. If they beat Alabama, then they have to go on to beat Kentucky. Then, if they do that, it's either Ole Miss or Georgia. Can they beat Ole Miss or Georgia? I think so, but I don't think that ANYONE will be able to beat Florida.

Cupcake: I'm used to be surrounded by all of the ladies.
Fletch: You working in the women's shoe department at Dillards?

Top 5 Cap Space:

Fletch's Guess:
5)Green Bay

5) Colts
4) Vikings
3) Jaguars
2) Browns
1) Raiders $65M

AND welcome home Syd the Kid!

Cupcake's new truck is awesome. Bubba and the guys at Chevyland hooked him up! SO. If anyone ever needs a favor, whether it be moving, or maybe you just need a ride, call Cupcake. He WILL do it. We'll make him.

LSU Baseball:

Ralph: Have you noticed the small ball that LSU is playing with so far? Has Manieria seen the light?
Fletch: I think he's seen the light that they have good pitching. Aaron Nola is untouchable.
Ralph: Saturday is our mid-weekend game. Do you go with Domangue or Glenn? Glenn hasn't impressed m so far. Before you go out of town, what's your Diamond Hogs weakness?
Fletch: They got swept. What do you do? If you don't have the right guys to close it out, then well, you know. That's A&M's problem too, they're bullpen just has gotten shut down.
